The story of Trinity Church in New York City is one of rebuilding after destruction, with its first two buildings burning down, the first in 1776 and the second experiencing a roof collapse. Founded in 1697, the current Neo-Gothic church was constructed in the 1840s and has historical ties to figures like George Washington and Alexander Hamilton. The church also played a role in the American Revolution, severing ties with the Church of England to become a self-funded institution within the American Episcopal Church.
